Group Customization - Hiding Columns I have not used this feature before but a client wants it to customize the History screens in Sage 100 ADv 2014 Accounts Receivable. If I try to Hide columns using an individual user - no problem, there are nine columns that can be hidden. If I select a grp instead of a single user, I get the error message ""No columns in the GD_HISTORY grid can be hidden.

I have tried to use that feature before and the answer is not what you want to hear. Grids cannot be customized by groups. I don't know why that is but Sage confirmed it for us back in version 4.5. I just tried again in version 2014 and it appears that is still true. if you have a lot of users it means having a lot of user specific screens - not ideal. If most of your users need the field hidden then hide the field(s) for all users; then create custom screens for those that do not need it hidden

I wonder if you can accomplish this via scripting. At the Vegas 2014 scripting class, @AlnoorCassim demonstrated how to hid fields and tabs via scripting. Perhaps this can be done for columns. With this group, we should know soon....

Although with scripting you can hide and disable screen controls, you cannot do that with grid columns from any screen until 2015.

It is a pain to have to do this for each individual user, but there is a copy function that helps. Once you have one screen set with all that needs to be hidden you can just copy it to the other users.
