Does anyone have one or more customers using the GUMU connector for Salesforce/Sage 100 integration and willing to discuss your experience?

Particularly interested in those who have a good understanding of SDATA. And those who have gone through an upgrade.

This can be billable if you like.

    Hi Eric,

I would suggest reaching out to Johnny Pabian about an alternative to Greytrix. One of his customers integrated their Sage 100 and Salesforce by using a product other than Greytrix, and they absolutely love it.

As for experiences... While I was at Blytheco, I had two customers who were using the Sage 100:Salesforce integration. One customer was quoted 4 months for an initial project that turned into 18 months, went grossly over budget, and Greytrix never took ownership of the issues caused by their development team. That same customer gave Greytrix another shot six months after the initial project concluded to give Greytrix one more chance by paying for a modification to the GUMU integration,. That project was quoted at 3 months. It took Greytrix 13 months to finish the project with more of the same - blaming situations as the root cause of the problem while everyone else on the call knew full well what the problem was (spoiler alert: it was Greytrix).

Another customer had the Sage X3:Salesforce GUMU product and requested a customization to it during the initial implementation. That customization was explained to be "easy" and "no problems." Spoiler alert here: that project turned into an escalation that ruined a relationship with that customer.

At Net at Work - the stories don't improve.

Speaking objectively: Greytrix's solution has too many points of failure. Yes, SData has to be enabled - not a big deal. You have to expose an https port and properly secure it with an SSL certificate - also not a big deal. You also have to ensure that IIS is running to ensure there's no disruption to the SData provider. All of that seems easy enough, but unexplainedly the IIS server has to be reset at times. The SData XML web.config file may need to be rebuilt (if there is even one customization to your Sage 100:Salesforce integration, this becomes a requirement). If any one of those points of failure do in fact fail, then you're reliant on Greytrix's support team to resolve the issue.

The biggest challenge both Blytheco and Net at Work have with Greytrix is the Greytrix workday schedule. Most problems happen in the middle of a work day. If anything with any of the previous three points fail - you won't find out proactively. There aren't any notifications that get triggered. The way you find out something stops working is from the customer, making Greytrix's support 100% reactive to the three issues outlined above.

i.e., this happened seemingly yearly (even if we prompted Greytrix to "be ready" for an SSL change): an SSL certificate expired, you found out after it expired and are left scrambling to coordinate between IT resources, Greytrix (who only return emails up to about 11a-12p Central Time).

I hope that helps. I don't think Greytrix has bad people. I do feel that their customer experience has gotten so bad over the last few years that using them is more of a detriment than a benefit. It seems like firms either enjoy working with Greytrix or they absolutely refuse to - there doesn't seem to be any in between.

    Thank you @Basil Malik

An alternative is not really an option at this point. It is in service and the customer is happy with it.

It did take quite a while to get it implemented initially. There are indeed gaps (pushing invoices back to SFDC and including tracking numbers, SFDC quote/order entry respecting Sage 100 price codes/price levels) in the standard functionality and the customer had to pay for customization that extended the delivery considerably.

Their approach to the invoices requires editing of the MAScontract to include details in the header object, so any UDF work in Sage 100 breaks it.

The customization also adds a level of complexity to Sage 100 upgrades I did not expect.

Most definitely will look at other options in the future for other customers.
