I'm working on a fairly basic project that involves exporting data using Crystal Reports and using Visual Cut to create an automated CSV export.
Last night I had to figure out why my CSV file wasn't formatted with headers via Visual Cut.
Rather than page through the manual, I uploaded the VC manual to Google NotebookLM and asked the question to Notebook LM and received a concise solution based on the manual contents.
Another part of this project involves scripting/BAT files to automate the upload/download of data through FTP.
NotebookLM or ChatGPT will write the batch/script files that do what you ask. Just copy/paste and you're nearly done.
Granted, you could always find this type of information online with Google but it would take multiple searches and sometimes the sites are littered with ads, have 5 years-old data or have message boards requiring you scroll through 50 messages in a thread only to find the one message that has 50% of the info you need.
If you're not letting AI do this all for you - you are working too hard.
Notebook LM - https://notebooklm.google.com/ - allows you to upload reference materials like manuals or whitepapers. From there you can ask questions and Notebook LM will reference your upload(s) to provide answers.
Most of the other AI tools are starting to allow this as well.
Some of these are free - some are about $20 a month.
