Goodness - does this type of promo EVER sell any software other than solutions that are already signed and in (or nearly) in progress as a sale?

Sort of like deciding to go ahead with heart surgery because of a year-end special. I often wonder how people like Ed Kless balance in their mind the disconnect between his personal message (sell value and discounting is a 4 letter word) and the totally opposite message coming from the company that provides his paycheck. It must be pretty frustrating.

I do understand this: they are trying to bring deals in this FY that were on track to close in Oct. It's ""we are going to buy this anyway, so lets save a couple $$."" There seems to be more September Specials than I remember last yr. I wonder if they're off the mark of making quota.

Short term thinking is a killer. Instead of waiting until October to get those sales, they rush them in at a discount this year. Which hurts next year. Which means they need to rush in next year's sales in September. The joys of public companies.
