    The worst is when a client calls and says they have a ""quick question"" and you are on the phone with them for an hour. They always seem to say ""and one more question"" just as you think you are done :)

    Yes, while it does have some merit, switching people to service agreements makes much more sense. First, you lock in the cash flow. It is constant and it is something you (AND the client) can budget for. These clients tend to call you more frequently so the problems are smaller and more manageable. They TRUST you so the relationship is more valued partner and not adversarial. There is less defending your work and more promoting their bottom line. One service agreement in hand is worth two (or more) hourly billing clients in the bush...... My 2012 goal is to move more clients toward the service agreement plan. Life really is MUCH easier!!!!!!

    Actually, there are a few flavors of Kool-Ade that agree with me! Honestly, the hardest part of converting clients to this program is having the TALK with them. Pick the ones that you have a good working arrangement with first. It is all about asking! Yes, there will be accounts that you get the pricing wrong but there will be others going the opposite way.... Just like insurance!!!!!! What you will find out is that you don't have to deal with butt hole clients. You just fire them!
