Getting the ""Cannot open Activation key file, no valid activation found"" message when trying to set up MAS200 SQL client on a new Windows 7 64 bit terminal server. The activate.pvx file is in the home\lib\keys folder on the local drive and the user has admin rights to the folder. I fired up pvxwin32 in 90 mode from the SQL box and it works fine so the issue looks to be in the client setup but I'm not sure what try try next. Any suggestions?

Is it the right activate.pvx? I've seen in the past that the local doesn't match the one on the server. If not, manually copy it from the server to the local drive.

@BernieLehman - I have had this exact same issue before with MAS 200 SQL 4.5. I ended up copying over the activate.pvx file from the server to the terminal server and replacing the file that was there. Did you also make sure you had port 1433 opened up to the main server?

Is the activate.pvx file the same one as on the server? Try stopping the service and recopying the file over. Also, double check that user truly has access. Does it work when you log in as administrator? I had this same issue on a WIN 2008 server yesterday. Shutting down the service, then copying the file resolved the issue.

I had copied the activate.pvx from the SQL server to the client and that didn't help but port 1433 on the main server - what is that open for?

Port 1433 is the port that SQL server (default MSSQL port) needs to communicate with the application. As far as your activate.pvx issue make sure the user has full permissions on the workstation folder. I had this issue on a terminal server (2008 64bit) and it was because there wasn't full permissions for 'everyone' user on the folder where the workstation was installed.

Yes - Port 1433 needs to be open for MAS 200 SQL

Make sure that directory on the local PC has full read write rights in addition to copying the activate.pvx from ther server.
