Is this the first product update for the 2014 version? It's not the initial 2014 release - is it?

I don't think this is too tough question - is this the first service release? First release of 2014? Makes it tough to write about when attention in Job Ops seems to be dwindling.

Not the expert here, but based on my prior questions on the v2014 release and the notes above, it sounds like the first version release.

Synergistic almost always releases a version or major update immediately prior to Summit with the intent of putting some spotlight on the product. Many years ago when we had Visions or Insights, they actually released new modules or major additional functions. The sale of Synergistic and reorganizations has delayed an initial 2014 release. Hopefully in the future we will see compliance releases such as this closer to the Sage initial release. The next 2014 release is scheduled for December and the SQL version is supposed to be included.

@WayneSchulz It's interesting that you mentioned "". . . attention in Job Ops seems to be dwindling."" I'm not sure if you meant just in this group or overall. One of the problems I have seen in the past few years has been the lack of consistent marketing of the brand, except for the sponsorships at Summit on the part of Synergistic. Although I hope the purchase will spur more aggressive development of the product, what the new owner(s) need to invest in is this consistent marketing program to make it more visible. Even now there are business partners who know nothing about JobOps. If that's true, think of the lack of exposure and knowledge in the user and ERP community in general.

I do think overall --- at least to me -- I see Job Ops as a great solution for an existing happy Sage 100 user who wants much stronger manufacturing. I'd rate is a hold in terms of a new deal until I see what happens with the acquisition. Certainly Sage is not putting much money into Sage 100 so for a new deal the customer with strong manufacturing needs would need to rely in Job Ops nearly 100% for better functionality. As a neophyte reading the messages here it seems as if Job Ops is certainly in the top 5 of ""Apps that will keep you from upgrading to the latest Sage 100"" though I'm not entirely sure that's as important as it might once have been - except to Sage who seem puzzled by the lack of users who constantly upgrade.

I'm currently working with a prospect who is considering Sage 100 with JobOps vs. Macola. The Macola people simply said Sage 100 is not a manufacturing package, thinking this will easily win them the business. The prospect is a pure custom manufacturer, so JobOps is an excellent fit. Although most of the ""manufacturing"" packages, such as Macola, claim to deal with custom manufacturing, it is not their concentration, so JobOps normally has better features in comparison. The competitors, such as Macola, don't consider Sage 100 with JobOps to be a solution, which is why Synergistic needs to strengthen the brand and their marketing.

My impression is that Job Ops is a very powerful solution that has been limited by the Providex platform. It could not scale to large quantities of users but has a price tag at or above AX or X3 when any of the advanced modules are introduced.
