FYI - here's what ITA charges for their conference. I have to believe this is a revenue generator for them though they do offer breakfast/lunch/dinner on a couple days. Early Bird Registration Deadline is Sunday, March 17 St. Patrick's Day! Before you do whatever it is you plan to do to celebrate the day or just enjoy a perfect Sunday remember that the registration fee for the Spring Collaborative jumps from $850 to $950, starting on Monday. You should have received an overview of the content in the ITA Connection, but if you missed it, we keep the website updated. Just hit THIS LINK to find details about the meeting, including registration and room reservation links. Next week, we'll have a lot more content descriptions and the like. Our committees meet tomorrow to finalize more of their thinking. If you know you are coming, REGISTER NOW before our Early Bird Deadline on Sunday. It's a revenue generator. There are a couple of salaries getting paid out of their dues.

And let's not forget the $3500 initial sign up fee. With the Socialcast element, the MotMs, and the occasional MAS 90 lead that filters through 90 Minds, I think 90 Minds has a lot to offer the members compared to ITA. It helps to be focused. I am attending Sage Leadership Academy in New Orleans next Monday and Tuesday. They do two conferences a year focused on a topic or two. I was thinking about it yesterday ... SLA is probably going to go away given the way Sage keeps cutting programs. Would it be worth exploring merging SLA into 90 Minds? The thought is that the people that do the administration could be paid out of the 90 Minds budget to organize the MotMs and maybe other group based activities (for example, get togethers at Summit, a second MotM focused around a topic (like SLA is today), coordination of t-shirts or other marketing items or events for members, etc.). It was a passing thought but this post re-ignited the thought.

@PeterWolf These are great ideas but I think for any major 90minds expansion would require an increase in fees and the hiring or somebody, even if only 20/hours/week to make these things happen. Expecting a group of volunteers to do this stuff reliably is like herding cats

Agreed Mark. I guess that's what I was thinking with the idea of merging SLA into 90 Minds. Pick up a part-time resource or a contracted resource to start arranging things. And those ""things"" would be at-charge for participating members. Those fees would pay for the contracted resource.

I feel that hiring someone would be somewhat akin to what my condo does. They hire a management company - but then the board (owners) still have to attend every meeting and wipe asses.

I would guess that it depends on the person that you bring in.
