**Fyi: BizNet/BizInsight ""Fired an Exception"" error due to Windows Update** BizNet does not have a resolution as of yet; still investigating. However, some users have been able to resolve this by removing the applicable Update: _**KB4338818**_ (Windows 7 Cumulative), **_KB4338819_** (Windows 10 Cumulative), **_KB4338420_** (Windows 7, Microsoft .NET Framework).

Brett, I'm experiencing the same issue and uninstalling those updates did not resolve the issue for me on the Windows 7 box with Office 365 (2016 32-bit). If I figure it out I will post it here as well....nothing like closing a Friday with something like this!

I had one client who had the 18 Update but the system wouldn't let her remove it. I had another client who had the 20 Update, and removing and rebooting resolved it for him. I'm on the list to be contacted when BizNet has the resolution so I'll post when applicable.

From BizNet: There are now currently 5 possible Microsoft Updates which have been reported in various cases to possibly be the cause of the problem: KB4338818 (Windows 7 Cumulative), KB4338420 (Windows 7, Microsoft .NET Framework), KB4340004 (Windows 7, Microsoft.NET Framework), KB4340556 (Windows 7, Microsoft .NET Framework), and KB4338819 (Windows 10 Cumulative). For now, the only possible workaround which is only working for some users is to uninstall those updates, and then reboot the computer.

From BizNet tech support: We are sending you this email because you have reported that one or more BizNet users is receiving the error, ""BizInsight has fired an Exception"" and are unable to use BizInsight. We believe we have isolated the issue to User Access Control (""UAC"") settings. Please try the following steps and let us know if they help. Open Windows ""Control Panel"" Open ""User Accounts"" Click on ""Change User Account Control settings"" Move the slider bar up or down to the default setting of ""Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer(default)"". If UAC is already set to the default, please register BizInsight again. (Video attached) Click ""OK"" to accept the changes Restart the computer *If the computer is not restarted, the UAC changes may not be fully applied. After the computer restarts, log back in and launch Excel. Launch BizInsight how you normally do. When you start BizInsight, the error should not display and BizInsight should be ready for use. Please reply to your BizNet Support Technician to let us know the outcome. Thank you greatly for your patience while we worked to find a solution.

Thanks for posting, @JohnShaver. I got the same e-mail Fri at 7p ET. And I just responded to BizNet: I have one client who has confirmed the UAC change resolved their BizInsight issue. However, this isn't a permanent fix is it? Most often that setting is set to ""Never notify"", plus there's actually certain instances with respect to Sage 100 where we need to set it to ""Never notify"". Thanks.

BizNet responded: "" Once UAC is turned on and the computer is restarted, UAC can be changed back to 'never notify'.

I wasn't having much luck with switching it back to ""never notify"", kept bring back the error message so I have had to leave it one step above the bottom for it to work...now I'm just waiting for the next problem to appear, am I alone in tryin gto get them to switch off Biznet to Sage Intelligence because of these types of things?

@ChrisMengerink, did you reboot the computer after making the initial UAC change? - even if it let you change it without then prompting for a reboot.

_**corr:**_ @ChrisMengerink, did you reboot the computer after changing it back to 'never notify' - even if it didn't prompt you to reboot.

@BrettZimmerman , yes did that process with reboots 3 times, couldn't get it to work at the lowest. The second from the bottom setting wouldn't allow me to run the bat file in the reg5 folder either, had to break that down to be able to run it.

Actually now I think my first reboot question was correct. So, @ChrisMengerink, you rebooted 3 times after the initial UAC change?

We did the change, rebooted, no error message but the window for entering values for functions was not popping up, tried to run the bat file in REG5 folder, could not run it without an error. Changed UAC back to never notify, rebooted, ran the bat file in REG5 without issue, tested biznet failed. Changed UAC back up 1, rebooted, opened Excel Biznet did not error, pop-up window for entering functions values was not appearing rebooted a third time to make sure UAC was set to the one from the bottom, tested, could run biznet Excel files. Changed UAC back down to never notify, rebooted, loaded Excel wouldn't work, changed back up 1 rebooted, loaded Excel and was working. Note all windows updates were installed.

@ChrisMengerink, while communicating with Kristopher Karl (BizNet Support Technician) yesterday about what's worked and hasn't re: the resolution for this issue, I ran your above info/issue by him. He stated there appears to be more going on than just UAC, so he suggested you/customer contact BizNet so they can take a look.

Had two instances this morning where after changing UAC to 'Default' and rebooting the computer, we then were getting all #NAME!'s. One we resolved by just running 'Scan for content' (answering 'No' to the prompt so that we retain current settings). The other we had run 'Scan for content' after first mucking with the Reg .bat files.

The customer changed their UAC setting to Never Notify and rebooted. Everything seems to be working again. We did not need to reregister BizInsight.
