  • 1.  Full backup programs - IT question

    Needs some good recommendations of what full backup programs are the best to use for our Sage 100 customers? We get this question frequently and would like to be able to provide some input back to our customers.

    There is no specific/recommended backup program for Sage 100 that I'm aware of, although many folks have their own preference.  I would suggest the client go with what their IT folks recommend.

    I agree with Brett.  The environment matters, like VM snapshots won't be an option if they don't use virtual servers.
    Planning a backup and recovery strategy is not as simple as choosing a program.  Business requirements need to be balanced with cost.  Time to recover, versioning, how much data loss is acceptable in a crisis, data storage costs...  One customer might want mirrored servers with hourly offsite backups, where another might be OK with nightly backups to a NAS device, and a weekly archive to a cloud service.
    It is definitely not a Sage question, but one best handled by customer IT.  We mainly just advise on what folders / data needs to be backed up... limiting our responsibility if something goes wrong.
