  • 1.  FRx on Win10

    Customer is switching PC's to Win10 and wants to keep FRx (yes, you heard right). Is it still possible and are there specific steps one needs to take? I did a search here and found several posts but nothing definitive on the exact steps. Would appreciate any tips or advice from anyone that's done it. Thanks.

    I did it a few months ago.  Below is what worked for me:

    Install FRX 6.78
    Install FRX 6.7 SP 11
    Run REG67 from the FRX program folder
    Copy and register msxml
    You may need to Double-click on FRxReg.exe in the FRx program file directory.

    I have had to sometimes install 6.7.4 and then SP12 
    Generally W10 works, it's the server environments that are really causing problems, so if you don't install at the server and just put the SysData on the server, you should be ok.

    Nothing has changed in the past 10 years or so since support was dropped for Frx.  Install v6.7.8, install all of the subsequent updates (3 or 4).  Pray.

    Works on one client's WIN 10, a no go on another

    I tried the direct go to the last PU and skip the intermediate ones once.  Ran into issues.  Wasted too much time self diagnosing.  Sage tech support fixed it by installing each one in sequence.  YMMV!
