From client email: I have an employee who currently has 6 direct deposits set up. They would like to change several of the accounts to a new bank but MAS says there is a limit of 8 accounts. I don't want to delete any of the current accounts set up because of the year to date total information. Is this a setting that can be changed to allow more than 8 accounts? Before I reply, any advise? Anyone have this issue before?

Change the lines then rekey the information into the YTD fields.

I was not aware that a limit even existed but looking at PR_01 P/R Employee Direct Deposit Master File I don't think your going to be able to increase that limit the table is keyed on the employee number and has fields for just 8 bank account numbers. Poor programming if you ask me.

Even more puzzling given the fact that the key field is about 13 (from memory) characters long..... Oops, my bad. Mixed my metaphors between AP and PR. the key field is in AP, not PR..... @DavidOverholt - The list is practically endless of the piss poor programming done through out. I wonder if they would have known that if PR wasn't going to be changed for over 20 years, they might have done things differently.

Thanks. I went ahead and advised the client to change an existing account number to ""COMBINED"", then combine the YTD amounts for several of the old bank accounts into one number. Save the breakdown somewhere else, and delete the other no longer used accounts. Then change the COMBINED account to zero percent and No pre-note sent. I think this is the best work around, but please let me know if there is another, better way.

@JeffSchwenk good point, or maybe if they would have changed the code in the last 20+ years this would have been addressed
