  • 1.  Frequent Pause in SO Invoice Entry After Entering the Customer Number

    v2022 Advanced - When the user is entering an invoice in SO Invoice Entry frequently there is a pause for a few seconds after entering the customer number.  They don't use sales orders.  they use Avatax however, it doesn't seem to be taxable vs exempt.  They can be cruising along with no delay/freeze and then BAM it happens.   It happens after they enter the customer number and hit the enter key to continue and then randomly there will be a delay/freeze for several seconds before they can continue.

    I asked them to open the Task manager when it happens and see if the CPU. Memory. or network stats changed during the pause.  They said the CPU time changes from 6% to 30% and when they sort the CPU column during the pause, Sage 100 is using the most CPU time.  Any ideas as to why this is happening, or how to go about tracking down the issue?

    You mention Avalara so I would first rule that out by creating a dummy customer and assign the sales tax code NONTAX. During a time when processing seems to be slowing I would try to enter in that dummy customer and see if that customer causes the SO Invoice Entry to pause for a few seconds after entering the customer number.

    Some customer have tax schedule AVATAX and some have NONTAX.  The pausing happens for both tax schedule types.

    Do they have any scripts on invoice data entry? Check for an "AR_Invoice_bus.vbs" file in the "..\CM\Scripts" folder.

    Great thought @Dan Burleson  There is an SO_Invoice_bus.vbs in the CM folder.  Interesting though is that it doesn't appear to be being used because the first line of code is If oSession.CompanyCode <> "JCT" Then Exit Sub.   JCT was a test company that no longer exists.   I think it was tested and then never implemented.  When all of the users are out of Sage 100 after hours I am going to delete the script and see if the data entry speeds up.  Could antivirus be looking at the vbs extension?

    You might try *ESC to rule out scripts or customizations. If it doesn't happen with escape trapping on then it would narrow down where you have to look for the culprit
