there is a routing. when running cost rollup from WO they get $6.00 of labor and $.51 in material instead of $14 in material

Is there a routing attached to the bill that would increase the WO cost?

Are cost types same for both reports?

What Unit of Measure are you using for materials. I have seen issues using fractional Each. I have had to change Each to EA if I am using a fraction of a component

valuation of the items is standard. using average cost for the rollup selection (same results with last, std or avg). changing some items to EA from EACH did fix previous cost issues. this issue has the BOM cost rollup showing the correct material cost but the WO cost rollup material cost way off on some items. labor seems OK. Sage no help yet. (still waiting on call back)

Have you tried to roll up and use Standard as the cost, may be a bad average cost of an item.

yes sir. tried average, last & std with and without intermediate bills. rebuilt keys & sorts in WO & BM. Ran bill validation (pretty clean)

Alan, I seemed to recall that there was an issue when running the Costed Bill of Materials Report depending on if you were using a Specific Bill verus using a Selection of Bills. The Selection of Bills pulls cost from all levels, give that a try. l

Something just came to mind, check the components to see if a BOM exists for one of them. If so, the report uses the cost of the BOM instead of the item (even though item may be defined as Buy).

mystery solved. The bill validation report was showing about two pages of bills with no components. Turns out some of those bills were in fact components of the bills with the whacked out costs.
