  • 1.  For 2015 Medicare withholding on wages over $11700

For 2015 Medicare withholding on wages over $117000 are being calculated in Sage 100, resulting in an overcharge of tax withholding for W2s in Aatrix. This results in an error that needs to be corrected before processing W2s. There is an article on the knowledgebase about this but I am not sure the best way of dealing with this. Can anyone provide guidance.

Hi Jon, Are you talking about FICA wages which for 2015 is 118,500, Medicare Wages should have no max point. Can you clarify your question.

Ron , you are correct. The error message from aatrix was confusing me. Apparently the problem was the wrong FICA limit. I am getting help now from Sage. Thanks for your post.

Jon, can you summarize guidance from Sage? I had someone call me about this last week and I thought we worked through it, but want to be sure we didn't overlook anything. TIA!

Kathryn, Aatrix was reporting a problem with the Medicare limit, which was not correct. I then found article 23686 on the KB which confused me even further. In the end the problem was they had the 2014 FICA limit of $117000 in the Sage tax table for 2015 instead of $118500. This required changing the database to move the FICA withholding from income tax to FICA for the one employee, then re-doing the 941 to pay an additional $93 in employer taxes.
