First Look at Sage Inventory Advisor: I took a quick look this morning at the Sage Inventory Adviser that has been set up for one of my customers. They are still tweaking it, and apparently will be making some tweaks on each setup depending on customer data. There is a LOT of info here - the controller is actually worried it will be too much for her purchasing people to cope with. I also noticed rounding issues - Netstock does not appear to pull the qty and price decimal settings from Sage 100. Another issue (and this probably applies to any purchasing automation, not just this one) - if you are not careful with your promise dates, you will get magnified garbage out from your garbage in. The number one item listed under stockouts has an SO with 12 lines on it for the same item, clearly intended for multiple ship dates, that all had the same promise date two weeks past. This resulted in a PO recommendation for 320 days worth of material, as the further behind you are the more it thinks you need in safety stock. It's too bad Sage has its head up its ass (as usual) about having the channel be the last to see this, as we could give Netstock lots of useful tips they will never get from Sage.

Good point about garbage in garbage out. I find that a huge number of customers looking for ""better reporting"" actually have very loose policies about how the data is entered.
