File Layout for SO Header History v2023

  • 1.  File Layout for SO Header History v2023

Am I missing something?  File layout for SO History Header indicates field six is ShipExpireDate field.  This field does not exist in the actual table (via DFDM).  It has been a dream of mine that one day the SO HistoryHeader table matched the SO Open Header.  Is it one step at a time for this reality?

So glad they finally fixed that (via the v2022 release it appears: https://community.90minds.com/idea/so-include-the-shipexpire-date-in-history).

Yeah weird, my 'shipexpiredate' field is also at bottom, as well as 'ordertype' - in both v2023 and v2022.  Whatcha got going on there, @Kevin Moyes?  lol

Mine there was v2023 demo data.  Yours is probably converted data, where the field would be added to the end.

Looks like File Layout didn't change with the software.

Usually when they add a field to the data dictionary, it gets added to the end of the table regardless of how it appears in the File Layouts.

Found it......  At the end of the table like most others.  So is the file layout incorrect is does the table display incorrectly?

It's that they add new fields to the end of the table. If you have a new install, they will appear in the same order as the File Layout.

Interesting.  Good to know.  But isn't this what the migration utility is all about?  When you migrate, it rearranges the layout.  Or perhaps they should rewrite the file layout document, so we don't waste our time looking.  Perhaps they can explain at our next tech meeting.

It's always been that way.  Look at your upgraded systems and you'll find UDF's listed before newly added fields.

Yes, it's frustrating, but it works, and I personally think Sage programmers have more important things to do vs. worrying about field order (especially considering enhancements and UDF's...).

Tip: if you use CR to list the fields, you can sort them alphabetically.

Of course they have more important things to do.  If only they did them.  But when Sage under resources Sage 100 while focusing on the Intacct, we must be grateful for the little things they toss your way.

For Data Validation Errors, the documentation used to state Table Name and Field Number, for reveiw and repair.  It changed to just list field name and I find that the field in question can be "anywhere" in DFDM and is not where expected often.  From customer to customer (based on how many times they have migrated); I find the fields randomly listed.
