I wanted to add a little note for future reference in case anyone still runs into the "file in use" issue when trying to add a UDF in Sage 100-even after renaming the files in the Links folder.
I've found another approach that works for me: I create a dummy company with just the GL and Common Information modules installed. Then, I log into that dummy company and try running the update there. This has helped in cases where, for example, I get the "file is in use" message for whatever company I'm currently logged into-so if I'm in ABC company, I get the error for ABC, and if I'm in XYZ, I get it for XYZ. Using the dummy company seems to bypass this problem and allows the update to go through smoothly.
Hope this helps someone down the road!

Try renaming all enhancement link files, doing the UDF's and then renaming them back.

STD, Adv or Premium? Perhaps stop the service and log in as MAS90 mode??
