Sage 100

Trying to figure out why FICA withholding is being calculated at 0.00 for employee and employer for one employee on salary who has not reached the annual limit?  The YTD values are well below the $137K for 2020.  Looking at the capped wages column in tax summary detail the capped wages are showing 0.00 for the last pay period as well.  Just started with the most current check and can be replicated on any new checks.  Other users have the same tax profile in use with no issues.  May be a call to Sage.

Just went through the same last week. It has to do with GTL taxes being checked on the FEDERAL taxes. It thinks the limit is 67,500. There is a KB 104247. I upgraded the customer to 2.2.02. They then processed a Payroll run and magically Sage adjusted all the FICA and SS amounts.

Check the employee's CAPPED wages - From the Employee record drill into the Ta Summary, Detail (don't select Capped Wages here), then on the Wages view click the drill-down button on the right.  In that view  click the icon on the right to show/hide Capped Wages, then click the Fi button to make needed changes.  Yes, the root of this is the GTL was enabled int he Tax Profile, which was corrected in PR v2.20.2, yet will not recalculate.

@Michelle Taylor. My customer said that the Payroll after 2.2.02 was calculating correctly. They then printed the Quarterly Tax report and everything seemed to be correct. I took their word and did not confirm. Now I'm thinking I should have. Are you saying that Payroll will not adjust the FICA WH to the right percentage?   ​

This makes total sense.  The employee received a good-sized bonus this month.  Doubling their YTD wages puts them over the limit.

Has any one asked Sage for a statement that can be sent to IRS explaining the error.  My client has over 60k of under-withheld FICA.  Client was hoping a statement mine help in reducing any penalties.

If you call Sage for this letter, perhaps start with Gerri in support.  She worked with engineering to get the issue corrected.  The root was that the "Excess GTL Coverage Tax" was enabled, and the system wasn't calculated capped wages correctly.

Yikes!!!  Good luck.  Though I hope the IRS has some compassion left as there has been a LOT of stuff happening in the past several months that came at us in a fast and furious way.  Self reporters shouldn't be held liable for these emergency issues.
