Installing FAS NW. It created the FAS service and is supposed to start it, but doesn't. I'm unable to start the service manually. Any ideas?

I'm not in office so this is from memory. Can you go into the depreciation utility and start it from there?

The service manager has encountered a problem with parameters

    Summary

    • Service manager won't start
    • FASSVCMGR.exe

    Cause

The service manager is unable to run with standard permissions and must be run as administrator.

    Resolution

On the server where the Sage Fixed Assets Network Server Components are installed:

    1. Go to c:\fasserv or sfaserv\common\fassvcmgr.exe
    2. Right click the fassvcmgr.exe and select Run as Administrator

If the Service Manager starts successfully; to allow the Service Manager to be launched from the Database Utility in future:

    1. Go to c:\sfaserv\common\fassvcmgr.exe
    2. Right click on fassvcmgr.exe and select Properties, Compatibility, and check the option for Run this program as administrator

    Click Apply, click OK

    1. Go to Start, All Programs, Sage Fixed Assets, Tools
    2. Right click Database Utility - Network Depreciation & Tracking, select Properties, Compatibility, and check the option for Run this program as administrator
    3. Click Apply, click OK

When in the Database Utility, the Service Manager should then open successfully when the Service Manager button is clicked.

Disable security software and try again

I find FAS tech support helpful (at times). Start a chat session with them.

I think that I'm over the hurdles. We've had to uninstall and then reinstall, which seems to have resolved it. Weird.

I thank you all for your help!
