FAS Fixed Assets Backup error: Unable to Create Backup File Client is on V2013.1 and I'm moving them to V2018.1 on another server. First step is to create BU file. There are two parts to the BU--it looks like the first part is ""Compressing Company Data"" and it looks like that is where it fails. Sage's KB says to remove all image files in two spots within FAS, which I did as well as actually removing the image file on the computer. Additionally, I've chosen to not include PDF attachments in Backup. Stopped and started the DB. Same error. I copied the two companies to a new DB. I tried backing up the companies individually. Same error. There is no compact utility that I can find in this version. Client has let their support lapse, but I already had downloaded the V2018.1 for this upgrade which was supposed to be before their support lapsed. So, I'm OK with upgrading them, but Sage will not support me. TIA.

Roberta, I don't have a clue as to why the db won't backup, never experienced that. But, an option may be to export the assets and import them into the new installation. This will lose history, though. Maybe they could leave the 2013.1 in place for historical purposes, or print all of the history reports.

By any chance did you try copying the company and then backing up the copy? Same Results?

Thank you, Alan. Yes I did. I'm beginning to think that this is an issue not specific to the DB. I just created a new company with one asset in my duplicate DB, and I same message when trying to backup.

Thank you, everyone. In case anyone searches for this question, I wanted to enter a resolution. Sage confirmed that with this old version of FAS 2013.1, the backup does not work. The ""answer"" is to manually copy the database (ends in .bdb) and place it in the upgraded version. Then, use the ""find"" button in the utility that automatically pops up when you load FAS to find the database. In my case, I installed the same version V2013.1 on the new server. We'll work on upgrading the customer next.
