  • 1.  FAQ for OAuth and TLS 1.2 Is Out in Sage Partner Hub

    Posted 07-27-2022 10:12
Sage added two PUBLIC FAQ ( careful because there is also a partner FAQ which is flagged internal ) to the Sage Partner Hub on 7/25/22.

I can't see where the recommendation would be anything but upgrade to 2022 though I'm sure there will be many opinions.

Sage (Dianetta King)  presented this earlier in July that says 2020.1  is sufficient for OAuth but this FAQ says they have to be on 2021. I've attached the document Sage sent out after the Sage & Third Party Applications Conference earlier in July. Maybe they can provide final clarification in the round table today!

Another question:  Customer on 2014 who switched over to subscription to add modules but never actually upgraded from 2014.  Does the license server apply to 2014?

    Phil,

This is the list I have of the "phone home" licensing.

Sage is now sending around what I presume is a customer notification for the OAuth and TLS changes

Every time Sage issues a FAQ it has had slightly different guidance as to the required minimum versions.

Security Updates May Require You to Upgrade

Effective October 1, 2022, Microsoft® will disable Basic Authentication for email services. If you are using Microsoft online email services and already using Sage 100 version 2021.4 or 2022.1, then you are fine! If not, then you may need to upgrade your Sage 100 solution before October 1. This is especially crucial if you are emailing invoices and reports directly from Sage 100.

Contact your business partner to discuss your options and determine what is best for you.

This is an important reminder that you should keep your solution up to date. Over 60% of all small and medium-sized businesses have reported at least one cyber-attack during the previous year1. And one of the best ways to ensure you are not at risk is to stay on the latest version. Plus, we have added so many customer-requested improvements that you will gain access to. Features like:
    • Sage Production Management enhancements
    • Simplified role security capabilities
    • Automation in reversing an entire accounts payable (AP) check run

Start Planning Now: Sage End of Support for Transport Layer Security (TLS)

In addition to the email service update, there will be an additional security-related update we want to make sure you plan for. Sage will stop supporting products using TLS 1.0 and 1.1. This means, if you are using a version older than 2019, then you will need to upgrade. If you do not upgrade prior to September 2023, your software will revert to read-only mode.

    Greetings Sage Business Partners,

A point of clarification to the statement :" Every time Sage issues a FAQ it has had slightly different guidance as to the required minimum versions".

A partner notice was originally issued on July 7, regarding OAuth and TLS. Followed by FAQs and Talking Points the week of July 25. Each were modified to ensure transparency and total accuracy regarding the impacted product versions. Note: The OAuth FAQs are the only versions that were modified, with that being completed with 48hrs of original posting.

There are two versions of the FAQs, customer-facing only and one for the partner community and our internal teams (that serve you as partners and our customers).

I assure you that our goal is to relay accurate information at all times. Hence, referring to what Sage colleagues post to the Sage Partner Hub is the best source of information and updates.

Please be advised that the FAQs and Talking Points may evolve during the course of these projects. Please refer to the Sage Partner Hub for updates on this project or any other Sage matters.

Our sole objective is to ensure transparency and minimize any confusion in support of you and all customers. We appreciate your partnership and I assure you that are goal is to work with you and not against you.

    Best,

    Dianetta King

    Product Marketing Manager, Sage 100
