  • 1.  Exploding Kit items using VI

    Customer is on Sage 100 Premium v2015.  They have a situation where a kit item is set to PROMPT for exploding kit on sales order.  In one warehouse, the want to NOT explode kit and in another warehouse, they want to ALWAYS explode the kit.  We have set the flag in item maintenance to PROMPT.  

    They import data via VI into SO Invoice Data entry.  I want to answer that PROMPT question to make the kit item explode.

    Any thoughts? TIA

    Can you do a RunTime Assign on that field?  Will the import file be for 1 whse only in that file?  Or are they going to intermingle warehouses in the same file?

    Thanks Nancy.  Fortunately, they are not intermingled.  The VI job is straightforward as EXPLODE or NOT.  One VI job is either one way or the other. 

     

    My question was really around assigning that field.  I don't think that the field "ExplodedKitItem" is the one that does the work.

    Can you use the same source file but create two V/I jobs?  One job that Explodes all records but skips that one warehouse, and then another job that skips all warehouses but that one and doesn't Explode?

    You may need to change off PROMPT before you run the V/I jobs and then change it back to PROMPT afterwards.

    Thanks Steve.  You and Nancy were right on the money.  Customer has agreed to two separate imports – one doing one process and another doing the other.
