    Hi everyone:

We are looking for some feedback on the following SMTP relay services, to be used for a customer who is on 2018 and is in the middle of upgrading,  but will not be done before the deadline.  They do not have an IT department, so they have asked if we could recommend something that would be easy to manage for non-technical people, and has worked for other Sage100 systems in similar circumstances.  They have indicated that they send 2,000 to 3,000 emails a month, and the cost is not a driving factor as they plan to use this for only a few months.

I know of other situations where the best option is to send over a list and let them choose, but in this circumstance, we want to point them to something that we know will be a good fit for them.

Thanks in advance - and if anyone has a suggestion that I have not listed, please feel free to let me know...

I typically lead with and suggest smtp2go (based on 'community chatter' and some client feedback) but I too am curious to hear some recent thoughts.

I also lean toward SMTP2GO not because I have any experience but because a couple people here seem to have had good luck with it.

I've recommended it several times and my customers have balked at going to an outside email server.

Jeff - I've setup SMTP2GO before to use with Sage. The version that came out in May 2022 has improved the setup and config a lot. It makes you proactively take care of a lot of things to prevent issues I ran into like emails going into a Spam folder and the From address being appended with "via smtp2go.com".

This was because I hadn't added SPF and DKIM records to the DNS of the domain registrar service (GoDaddy.com in my case). Once I dug up their tech articles on it, I was good. Today it's easier because SMTP2GO requires setup of a lot of things previously optional like a Verified Sender so that you don't run into those issues. If you go through @George Khairallah 's KB article that will get you almost all the way there.

There is also a free plan that you can setup for testing (no time limit) that allows 200 emails/day or 1000/month. This is what I did back then and once I had everything working, the customer paid for their paid plan, and still does. Looks like you can get the $10/month for 10,000 emails/month (you have to move the "how many emails" slider to the left to see it).

I second @Alnoor Cassim post. It's my first recommendation, I use it inhouse and I have several clients using it as well. The setup is easy (if you have access to their DNS) the security is good. You can setup user logins that are different from the from email address. You can also restrict sending by IP address for additional security.
