Existing user on Sage 100 ERP 2013 Advanced PU4 They have a live setup at \\liveserver\mas90 They are working on implementing a third party solution on a test server at \\testserver\mas90 To facilitate the changeover they would like to take \\testserver\mas90 and copy it over their live setup of Sage 100 Advanced \\liveserver\mas90 They want to copy al the program files over the top of the live setup (same version). Anyone done this before ? I have done copies of MAS_XXX but never a full copy of Sage 100 Advanced (including program files)

Have they been duplicating all data entry on both servers? I would guess you could migrate but would installing and duplicating any setups be easier?

The issue is that \\testserver has a third party solution loaded whereas \\liveserver does not. I've copied data no problem. Have not copied on Sage 100 Advanced over the top (including all programs). Jim pointed out that paperless will need to be merged.

What happens in the future if they get a message...must install to original location?

Good point - that's definitely going to be a problem.

When the third party solution was installed, were .dll files or other files written to the testserver that wouldn't be on the live server? Maybe files written to Program Files/Common Files?

Is it possible to run the third part install on the live server and then do a migration?

That would be optimal. The customer is checking with the developer. I was not the lead on this and not consulted until the ""oh by the way"" stage. I suspect it will become a ""check with your Sage partner"" issue but hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised. At least I made it clear that moving the info is not a ""slam dunk"" easy job.

Wayne, it's possible. As long as the 3rd party's software installs to the MAS90 directory, you should be OK. The simple approach on a Sage 100 Advanced would be to Turn off the Application Server and Make a copy of the Live MAS90 directory first. (always the first step) Rename the MAS90 folder to something else, for example OLD-MAS90 Copy the MAS90 directory from the test server - to the same place as the live directory Go into the copied Test MAS90 folder and rename (to .OLD) the appserv folder in the /MAS90/Home/Lib (I think that's it) and I also reneame the activate.pvx in the \MAS90\Home\Lib\Keys (I not in front of my system, but I think that's it). Now copy the same appserv folder and activate.pvx file from the renamed live OLD-MAS90 folder into your version with the 3rd party install and you should be able to work.
