Remove the 64bit Office and install 32bit.
We had this with a site that is HEAVILY dependent on Excel queries. The 64bit driver randomly throughs this error. We found no consistency. One workbook in particular has several queries and would work fine for days, then choke on different queries.
Installed 32bit Office and no error since.

If it fails consistently with the same criteria and data then I would suspect that MAS 90 is unable to handle the data (maybe toggle the "Null Date" option). If it's inconsistent with the same criteria and the same data then I would suspect Excel. I see a lot of instability with Excel with both (32 & 64 bit) version 2016 which is the same as Office 365 (and more recently 2019).

What component is putting out the "internal error" message? Excel? ODBC? Windows? Have you checked the Event Viewer?
