I found a Higher Logic user group to join, for free, VMug - VMware user group. Ironic, right? Joined the Star Wars Last Jedi community discussion.

Questions from last weeks meeting answered @JeffSchwenk @MichelleForsey @PhilMcIntosh @ThereseLogeais @RobertWood Q: Can you follow a hash tag? In Socialcast they allow each member to select hash tags to follow. A: Community members may follow content, people and places of interest within the Online Community. Within the platform, a personalized feed of such self-curated information is available to each user. Additionally, each member can subscribe to real time, weekly and/or daily digests to be notified of pertinent activity via email. Q: What personalization's can be made to a member 'view' of the HL page if any? Can you set any defaults, for example, to always show X or always display Y? A: Yes, the Community can display whatever content or messages you like with full HTML editors anywhere across the platform that you deem appropriate. _Not exactly what we were asking but good to know_ From the VMug I can update the digest type and frequency - immediate, daily, weekly , open a community and set the display preferences (about 12 of them). I think we can set a page default for all members. Q: Please explain the differences in ""mobile community website"" and the mobile application. A: All Higher Logic modules are optimized for the mobile experience. We utilize the latest Bootstrap framework for creating responsive ""mobile community website"". Everyone would be able to access the community as if they were on a desk top. The Mobile Application is a branded community to download from your mobile device's store. Providing members with push notifications and a native app experience.

Here's the link VMug is free unless you want to be part of their Advantage program. There seems to be a local VMug community we each can join and at least test out the search, profile set up, etc. https://vmug.ps.membersuite.com/profile/CreateAccount_BasicInfo.aspx?t=Membership
