Not exactly a formal quote but this is the deal I've worked out and confirmed in an email from Gavin at Higher Logic:

...Just to confirm what we discussed, we are willing to waive the install fee ($1800) for Event Manager. The annual fee remains at $3,600. Should have no problem implementing within your desired timeline.

A savings of $1,800, we'll pay the $3,600 at time of signing. 

Now onto the mobile piece.

There are two companies that Higher Logic referred to me that have integrated or can integrate a mobile application to the Event Manager.

The first, Results Direct is the firm that provides our MemberCentric app.  If you've seen our MemberCentric it looks like a 'canned' mobile app for any HL customer to use.  I've reached out to them via their 'contact us' page and called too for information on an Event app. Reply to date - Crickets.

The second firm, Eventpedia, did contact me within an hour of completing their 'contact us' form.  I had a demo of their Mobile Events App and the set up for synchronizig it with Higher Logic Event Manager and it's pretty nice. For general info see https://www.eventpedia.com/mobile-event-apps

They can get us going and set up the mobile app, branded and optionally we can get a branded 90 Minds Event App on the Google and Apple stores.  But the big news comes from this - Eventpedia can write us a new HL mobile app too.  

The basic price on Eventpedia Container, is  $999 with branded site $2,500. The main add-ons needed, if we go this direction are:
Session check-in for auto control of attendance for CPE credits $250
HL Event Manager integration $1,500
Approx. $2,749 to $4,500

Once we have this setup we can reuse it for any event. 

The 'base' price includes (the $999 or $2500 version)

• Personalized calendar/Notes
• Event info/schedule
• Attendee/Exhibitor/Sponsor Profiles
• Social Media Integration
• Push Notifications
• Google/Interactive Maps
• Document Sharing
• Analytics
• DIY Theme and Content Design

Unlike Whova, we pay for it once, not every year.  Last year Whova cost $1,099, prior year was $999 this year they have not sent a quote yet but I imagine the price will increase a bit.

It seems to me that having the mobile app integrated with HL has advantages, and that long term, we will pay less for it than staying with Whova. I vote for the HL app.

​From the conferences that I attend, the integration between the registration and the apps is expected and I believe valuable.  I generally only use the app when I am attending a conference and these days, I believe it is expected.  Also, with the ability to enhance the future usage and functionality, I think it makes sense to move forward with the use of the HL App.
