If you have sophisticated job cost estimating needs, you may wiush to look at Timelinx. There was a recent 90 Minds webinar on it and I have seen a demo of it in the past but never have implementred it. I believe
@Jerry Norman has experience with it.

Subject: Estimating for JobCost
@Larry Bradford you have hit on one of the interesting topics for Job Costing. I don't think I have ever run into two companies using the same method for estimating. We have a number of Job Cost users and some leverage Sales Orders for estimating but most use Excel, often very complex, spreadsheets. The core numbers are then entered into either SO's tied to Jobs and/or Jobs for billing through Job Cost. Most bill through AR or SO. Importing data into Job headers and Cost codes is not too difficult if the 3rd party estimate can be structured to feed the file. The old Timberline estimated tool used to be able to feed Job Cost via import.
