  • 1.  Error: Install method failed: line 0. unable to create error.txt log when performing migrations

    Encountered the error migrating data from v2017 advanced to v2019.3 Advanced. Per Sage KB article 102472, I replaced the 2017 SY1q01 - 04 and Sy1qdd.soa files with ones from a clean 2017 backup, but got the same error after re-migrating (I picked system files and the same companies I originally migrated).  This is a test migration - the client is still using the 2017 for production, and I'm reluctant to replace the 2017 providex.dde and providex.ddf with the clean copies (per Sage KB article 20379).

    Any other ideas, or will I be able to save off the 2017 providex.dde, ddf files and restore them after re-migrating, leaving their production environment intact?

    Hi Barbara,
       These are very nerve racking to deal with.   Couple of thoughts.  Might replace the soa files with clean files during the migration and put back the originals after.   I would tend to me more comfortable with using At the prompt type the following: PRINT %SYS_SS'CreateTable("table","COMPANY:xxx"Of course backup the whole thing before either one.   Saved my bacon more than once.  Good luck

      Migration successful.  I installed 2017.6.  Upon conversion, got prompted that TimeCard module needed to be installed (they haven't had a license for it for years, but it had never been removed in System Configuration).  Once removed, voila!

      As I recall, Timeclock gets installed even if you have never had it.  A Sage install glitch.
