    Hi All,
I am at my wits end (and Sage's as well).   Have a client on Sage 100 2019 Standard.  Recently they (the owner) decided that since they had some sort computer issue that he should install the updates from Sage Advisor.   Not 100% sure but I think that people may have been in at the time.    Wound up getting a call because the company data needed to be converted.  Managed to pry the story out of them.  I ran the conversion at that point but later when back and reinstalled the update when no one was in and made sure the data update 'took'.  However something is "weird".
Ever since then, their accounting manager has been getting error 0's at various times when updating registers & even when printing reports. I initially dismissed this as the user not realizing who was in Sage but I have checked  multiple times and there is no one else in anything that would look it.  In some cases the lock clears in seconds, in some cases it can take up to 15 minutes to clear.
There is no AntiVirus installed and Defender is turned off.  It does seem that there are some locks (in Sage -   AP_Vendor.LCK) that seem to have no reason to be open. It was suggested to rebuild the files involved in updates as that had cleared as similar issue reported by another client but did not help in this case.  Just to be complete, I have recreated SY_Workstation & SY_console.   Sage has reviewed this with me more than once and is stumped on this.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Are there any errors in the Windows event viewer on either the server or the workstation?  Is the error limited to one user, the accounting manager?

Have you tried renaming SY_LockfileInfo.m4t in the MAS_SYSTEM folder? If you rename that when all users are out it will get recreated when the next user opens any file.

That is a newer table (added in version 2019 I think) that keeps track of what table is open and the workstation, user, etc. I've seen records left behind in that table even when users are out.

We've run into locked  file issues with two different clients in the past couple of weeks.  Rebuilding the sy_lockfile resolved the problem.

    Resolution

    <content>

System files are typically in use while Sage 100 ERP is running. Therefore, rebuilding has to be done from outside of the program. There are well over 100 system files available to be rebuilt. They reside in the \MAS90\MAS_System and \MAS90\SOA directories where Sage 100 ERP is installed. If the system file is not listed in the utility, it cannot be rebuilt with this utility (or in rare cases, the file may be currently locked or unavailable).

To rebuild SY system files using the SY_RebuildSystem.m4p utility:

      1. Have all users log out of Sage 100 ERP.
      2. Stop the following services or applications
        • If running Sage 100 ERP Advanced or Premium, the Service or Application must be stopped.
        • If the Sage 100 ERP Integration Engine is running, stop the Service.
        • If the e-Business Manager Web Engine is running, stop the Service or Application.
      3. Make a backup copy of the system file(s) to be rebuilt. System files are critical for Sage 100 ERP to function correctly.
      4. Open Windows Explorer, and browse to the \MAS90\Home directory on the server where Sage 100 ERP is installed
      5. Right click on Pvxwin32.exe application to access a ProvideX command line window, select to Run as Administrator.
      6. Type in the following command and press the Enter key:

        RUN "SY_RebuildSystem.M4P

    1. At the User Logon prompt, enter your user logon and password.
    2. Once past the warning prompt, a Rebuild Key Files window will appear, displaying the available system files that can be rebuilt.

Note: For more information on how to rebuild files refer to Related Resources: "How to Rebuild Key Files."

Note: This utility cannot be used if Unified Logon is enabled.

    HI Folks

Well, turned out that even after rebuilding the SY_lockfile and recreating SY_Lockfileinfo as well as creating a new user has not fixed the issue..   I am going to see if IT can create a new user account & rename the workstation to see if that changes anything.    Hail Mary time....

    Thank you,

Sage seriously needs to train their support staff to be appropriately cautious / paranoid about installing updates.  We've had a customer system be broken by something similar in the past, and it is inexcusable.
