    Posted 01-18-2012 11:48
I'm not really sure but they may be. I'm not getting the warm fuzzies about this at all (but it makes me feel better that I'm ignorant about Sage CRM).... they openly say that CRM folk don't know ERP and I suppose vice versa -- thus the core of Sage's problem.

  • 18.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 11:49
I can't wait to see this presentation. I have been speaking with their marketing groups and giving them pointers on how to introduce Sage CRM more effectively. I've been educating them that ERP resellers can't keep doing the same things as they have always done and talk to the same folks and somehow be expected to sell CRM. It doesn't make sense.

  • 19.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 11:49
This is the kind of integration and sales process that looks great on a whiteboard at Sage corporate -- but in practice is a more difficult sale. It's an entirely different set of skills, different contacts, etc.

I love it - hey just because they are on an older MAS90 than 4.5 and maybe can't use Sage CRM they could still buy the licenses.. where do they find these folks....do any of these people have field experience (Answer: No)....

On a related note, can somebody tell me where the real new business value is in facebook or twitter for our industry? Twitter reminds me of RSS. Great tech for geeks, but worthless as a way of getting your message out since 95% of your audience doesn't use it. Same for twitter. Every living soul has email so why not use Mailchimp and RSS to email feeds versus 128 character twits that only few people get in realtime besides it being the 'latest and greatest' Same with facebook. I never mix business and pleasure and when i look at others doing it, I just don't see facebook stuff doing much ranking versus traditional blogs and google. What am I missing here?

I had her demo one too - everything falls apart when people see it's another $15k software and services. Plus these dashboard demo ok I suppose but Sage ERP already has dashboards ... which nobody uses ...

For a lot of companies using MAS and Accpac, there is still a benefit to using CRM - even if it's not integrated at first.

Problem Area Question: Sage CRM --> MAS 90 only works presently with one company. Fall of this year is the ETA for when Sage CRM will work with multiple companies. ""This was really the hot priority

  • 32.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 11:55
@WayneSchulz I'm so jaded with 'typical' MAS90 clients. I swear their is a 'cheap' virus embedded in the software that makes users cheap as hell. I say screw historical advice, and slap price in front of every raw prospect long before doing any real work because it seems to disqualify so many these days. Business Owners with drop $90k on the latest Mercedes without thinking twice, but ask them to spend far less than that on something that will help their business for years, and you get deer in the headlights.

I always use the ""starts at"" qualifying method... and if people can't stomach it why continue? I always want to know a range before I devote serious consideration to everything...

Did anyone else pick up on the MAS 5.0 being changed to MAS 2013?? Or did I hear incorrectly?

  • 36.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:03
Maybe they meant MAS 5.0 will be released in 2013???

  • 37.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

Maybe, but they said it would be available this fall.

Maybe that was easier to say than ""Sage 100 ERP SMB version 5.0""?

  • 40.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:06
I heard the 2013 too - I think she mispoke as multicompany I would think would require a little more tweaks to MAS to be able to integrate to CRM

  • 41.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:08
I'm out of it, so what's the big change with MAS, for it to get a 5.x numbering scheme?

  • 42.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:08
I'm sure Peter can correct me but I think it's due to only being able to have one company database in CRM, not a MAS issue.

  • 43.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:10
That's what Sage said the next version would be, not 4.6.

  • 44.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:11
@ThereseLogeais - (not sure if this answers your question or not - let me know) Sage CRM can support links to multiple ""companies"" in an accounting system. They have been doing it for years with Accpac. When a CRM company record is linked to an accounting ""company"" (a database really), there is a field that specifies which database and what the AR Customer ID is in that database. (Or AP Vendor ID since Accpac allows vendor integration as well) So the limitation is purely one of ... they just didn't build it out yet. Maybe there is some technical reason on the MAS side but I can't believe it's rocket science stuff.

  • 45.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:12
@ThereseLogeais Yea, but unless its a cheap marketing ploy (which with Sage would be par for the course), a new main number is supposed to indicate a substantial plumbing shift. IE. Business Framework when going from 3.x to 4.x. If they are going to slap in a few more 'connected services' and some Macabe add-ons, that would hardly justify a primary number change

  • 46.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:15
I think 5.0 is marking a some plumbing change with SData and the beginning of new mobile features - I think reports initially - then 5.1 is mobile functionality.

  • 47.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

    Posted 01-18-2012 12:15
Solutions like Epicor allow common contacts and 'accounts' to use a saleslogix term, between multiple ERP companies. The multiple ERP companies can reside in 1 physical database or in separate databases. You then choose on a contact and account basis whether they are shared across multiple entities. Of course, since its truly 1 system and not a bolt on approach, you can also do this with items, BOMS, Routing, Vendors and all arm's length transactions such as an SO in one company becoming a PO in the other and the related back and forth paperwork.

  • 48.  RE: ERP + CRM = Accelerating Business Success1/18/20

Thanks @PeterWolf for the clarification. I guess it is the MAS side....

Most issues we experience these days and the delay of integrating with newer technology is in my opinion relies on providex being old technology. The day is coming that this will be abandoned in my opinion - it might be 10-20 years from now but it is coming.
