Payroll Specialists:  Client would like to renumber his payroll employees.  I was expecting a utility but see that the "renumber" button on the Employee Maintenance Screen works for employees with history.  Any "gotcha's" to worry about?  Or is it OK to renumber employees as needed?  I understand they have to be sure to have no payroll in process.  And I see the help file says a Pre-Note for direct deposit needs to be redone for new employee number.  Anything else?

I used this a few months back (PR 2.20.0).  Surprisingly, it WORKED!!!  But it was only one employee.  Haven't noticed/heard of any gotchas....  I shied away from it in the past (pre 2018) as history was not modified.

I had an issue with the number not being renumbered in the Pay Rate History file, but I honestly can't tell you for sure that wasn't a conversion from 2017 issue.  I've never plowed into it again to determine.  But had 2 clients squawk, so something to keep in mind.  For one, I specifically remember modifying the report to use the current employee Dept/Number instead of the historical.
