  • 1.  Employee key/Employee number when importing to pr_employee

    Posted 05-03-2022 14:39
Had a client just ask me if they could bulk terminate employees with a visual integrator import (end of season for a ski resort).

I said sure, that should be an easy VI job.

All the info I can find shows you how to import and specify the employee key by simply using the employee number  for the key and the system will translate it for you.

However,  the employee key doesn't seem to be an available field when importing to the employee master file.

Tied to import by splitting up the division number and the employee number and importing to those fields.  It fails all records.  It shows the department number, but complains that the employee number is required.

    Ideas?

And it shows a value being put in the Employee Field?  I know I have imported into the PR_Employee file using those fields before without issue.  A couple of versions ago, but still in 4.x...

That is what has me confused.  I tried putting it into a temp field first and splitting it apart.  It shows me the department number but it won't show me the temp field?

Is the Temp field set to assign on Key Assigns Only?

If the field you're trying to calculate is part of the record's primary key, you have to use Key Assigns... since that is the only option that works before the primary key is set.
