    Who are the players in the Sage EDI world?  Trucommerce, SWK(?) - Anyone else?

    Asking for a friend.  They thank you in advance.

    I had a client about three years ago look into EDI.

    !. True Commerce - these were the first folks in. I recommended them ( initially ) and my client was really only implementing EDI at the insistence of a major customer ( stop me if you've heard this story ). We lasted through two meetings with True Commerce which I would characterize as more "Sell the Stack". The client only wanted EDI and they were being pitched and offered needs analysis for the range of True Commerce offerings. This client was confused and hesitant. At that point I "pulled the rip cord" and suggested we call another EDI provider.

    2. SPS Commerce - these were the second folks in and ultimately who my client signed with. They focused on EDI and didn't try to do a full court press on additional offerings. I think their implementation went fairly well and I don't hear any complaints.

    My opinion - YMMV: I tell all clients that EDI is like putting a roof on your house. Nobody does it until it starts to leak. And (almost) nobody does EDI until they have an insistent customer/supplier who is material to their business $$ wise. I set the stage right at the outset before we have the various ISVs do demos and discussions.

    @Jeff Schwenk

    I agree with Wayne's assessment.  The two players in the Sage 100 world are SPS Commerce and True Commerce.  SPS Commerce bought the MAP-A-DOC product from SWK several years ago.  When I started doing EDI in the mid 90's early 2000's I always recommended MAP-A-DOC.  Every trading partner had to have a map created for each document if it didn't already exist in the SWK library.  I did a lot of document mapping back then until I discovered True Commerce in about 2010.  True Commerce sold me on they would do all of the mapping so i converted everyone to True Commerce.  My opinion has changed after some recent True Commerce implementations that had slow service and incomplete or poor training.  Too many "consultants" and no one person to take responsibility for the project.  Today, I am back to recommending SPS.  SPS handles everything (unlike the old days of MAP-A-DOC) and an added benefit is SPS is the Sage endorsed solution, so you earn tier credit.  One disadvantage is the initial price is generally more expensive than True Commerce, however the overall value is better and a long-term better solution.

    Kissinger is a good option. I would be cautious with True Commerce. I dont believe they had the 2024 version ready until recently.

    I concur with the previous comments. The OG TrueCommerce in the mid-2000's until Highjump acquired them was my go to. Billy Ray Falce was my primary contact, and he made sure everything got done right. There was a brief comeback in the mid 2010's when TrueCommerce resembled the old days, but that was short lived. Today, SPS Commerce is my go to, and Bill Gaustad is a tremendous resource when needed. However, I work with Sam Scobolic who reports to Bill, and he does a great job of keeping projects on track. SPS is turnkey and worth every penny.

    To Wayne's point, the customer needs to understand what EDI is and determine the ROI before wasting anyone's time talking to and evaluating EDI providers. Some customers just get it. Others just refuse to pay for technology they cannot see, touch or feel. They want someone they can attempt to control and get those 40 hours out of every week. I'll never understand it, and I gave up trying years ago.

    True Commerce is also very hands off.  Even with a new implementation, they leave a lot of the setup up to the client ("attached is the documentation..." which is easy to follow only if the client already had/has another EDI product and is familiar with the lingo and functionality).  I just started an upgrade to v2024 in May because TC's product was not compatible with v2024 until April 2025.  We just reached out to them, and they replied with "attached is the documentation..." for a DIY upgrade, and a note that if the client would like them to be involved, to contact their account manager for pricing .

    Moral of the story:  advise TC clients about the wait time and either advise them of the extra charge or build that time into your SOW!  A third option is to get them switched over to one of the other solutions recommended here...:-)
