Myron - I second Wayne's warning. I was originally a marketing guy, and I am constantly disappointed by the competence shown by marketing firms regarding any sort of integrations outside of marketing --- even into the sales dept.
Try to suggest to the Controller that marketing can - and should - have all responsibility for the Customer's UI on the site. BUT their responsibility stops at the edge of integrating with the accounting system. Anything that touches the finance system must be the Controller's responsibility because that department will have to deal with problems and inefficiencies. In addition to the cc processing load, there are also integrations to products, pricing and customer price levels, shipping, product availability and more. Leaving these decisions to the marketing dept nearly guarantees that the finance dept will end up hiring more people to compensate.
