  • 1.  Dynamics GP

    Got a call from a friend that is using Dynamics GP and got the phase out announcent recently.  They are not too happy with the product and the reseller.  I believe part of the problem hast to do with procedures, training and incomplete implementation.  They use Salespad from Cavallo as a front office for sales and other processes.  Anyway, is there any Dynamics GP consultant that could help me determine if they can stay with the product until sunset, or if they should consider moving to Sage 100, Acumatica or other alternative.

    Very candidly if the customer is facing an end-of-life for Dynamics GP and wants to move to another product that is actively developed and improved the only recommendation I would make is Acumatica.

    Sage is, in my opinion, giving me no signs that they intend to materially develop and improve Sage 100..

    They have until 2029 with GP, so we are looking for a GP Consultant that could help them in the meantime.

    My apologies, your original message seemed to ask for someone who could help them determine if they could stay with the [Dynamics GP] product until sunset. I misinterpreted this and understand now that you're looking for a Dynamics GP partner to provide them with support up until the deadline when Microsoft support has been announced as ending.

    @Wayne Schulz - I am frankly shocked by the "only recommendation" being Acumatica.   Although Shelly and I have recommended Acumatica as the ERP of choice for several customers after a selection process, it is clearly not always the best system for all distributors and definitely not for all manufacturers!

    I do think experienced ERP consultants can make rapid recommendations when informed and educated on alternatives in the market.  This is why Shelly and I try and attend as many publisher events as possible, and why I am passionate about bringing competitive intelligence from partners to the 90Minds community.  Publisher competitive intelligence tends to be very biased and often incomplete when developed by a marketing department.
