During a customer meeting I observed their Sage 100 Advanced v4.4 system would randomly close down open windows on a user desktop. Seems like about 60 seconds was the magic number before the window would close. This happened while we were all starting at the screen but nobody was doing anything in terms of keypunch. Solution?

Screen saver on workstation? Is the user still logged into Sage if you look at master console? Any errors in the activity log?

The screen stays on - it's just the secondary panel that closes. Example I can see the MAS 200 desktop (main menu) but the Customer Maintenance (or whatever screen they have open) just closes.

Could someone have killed the task in MC?

    Power settings on the NIC?

I don't think so on either of those. I was with the main IT person and the entire session did not close - just the second screen open. I still see Sage 100 on the screen and after the secondary display closes I can select another and it runs without error.

Do they have the Automatic Logoff feature selected in User Maintenance? I know that sometimes does goofy things.

Have you checked the keep alives setting on the application server configuration? It is a long shot. Short of that, are they on an older service pack? I don't remember this as a bug specifically but at the same time it seems to sound familiar somehow!

On MAS 200 the Launcher runs local to the workstation so if it was a network issue it would most likely stay open like you're seeing. my experience where each task closes down but Launcher stays open it has been a network issue. If happening to more than 1 Wkstn then switch is a likely culprit But first try the 60 second test by starting MAS directly at the server.
