We upgraded a client from Sage 100 version 2020 with Work order to version 2024 with Production Management. Now, a few weeks after the upgrade we found that there was some duplication of steps on the templates in version 2024 PM. This came to light when they ran the PM Cost Rollup and noticed some significant cost increases. Fortunately they did not update the cost rollup.
With some deeper investigation we found that if a Work Order Routing did not already have a Step 000000 The conversion process created a new step 000000 and (apparently) the logic to create that is to take first valid step of that work order routing and use that to create the 000000 step. Unfortunately, it makes and exact copy of that step including Scaling and Labor amounts. The end result is that additional labor is assigned to the template.
If anyone has seen this and come up with a way to fix this, I would be interested. I think we have identified all of the templates with duplicates (about 1800 templates were affected out of about 15,000). If our list is accurate, I can use visual integrator to zero out the labor on the extra steps. I have opened a case with Sage support to see what their take is on this.
Example (simplified)
Before conversion to Production Management:
· Work Order Routing "widget" has 2 steps
o 0010 with 1.5 hours of labor
o 0020 with 2 hours of labor
After Converting to Production Management:
· PM Template "widget" has 3 steps
o 000000 with 1.5 hours of labor
o 000010 with 1.5 hours of Labor
o 000020 with 2 hours of labor
