Sage 100

DSD Business Systems set to acquire Extended Solutions from SWK Technologies. This mostly involves supporting the enhancements that SWK had updated from the original Extended Solutions and resold. Does not include any of the non-Extended Solutions from SWK (ie does **not** include Time & Billing, Timekeeper, etc)

Is it just me or does it seem like folks are slowly pulling away from the Sage 100 user base? This used to be a hotbed for development and customization. I guess it's getting harder to find new people who want to learn to program in Providex and Business Basic.

Probably right, but with two companies both doing the same development work to keep the extended solutions updated is wasn't very efficient. Overall they just cut their work in half by combining into a single development effort.

I agree @BobKohlmeyer and I felt conflicted as I typed the thought. However, I can't shake the thought that folks are slowly pulling away. Just waxing nostalgic to when we had enhancement guides from Kissinger, Macabe, and others. (Not that I want to go back to only getting info on new tools annually. I am as addicted to real time, any time info at the touch of a button as anyone.)

Sometimes it is a lot easier to pull a book off the shelf and read about an enhancement you are searching for. Web sites are good for the software publisher (cheaper than mailing). Would be nice to have a book in electronic format like a pdf, Kindle or e-reader. PITA to always have to find information on a web site instead of having it delivered to me.

Oh @DougHiggs you are so hopelessly old fashioned. (In my minds ear, I hear that in my oldest son's voice when he was 12! I heard it OFTEN.)

LOL. old fashioned and sensible.. ""computerizing"" everything doesn't necessarily make it more efficient. Just like the word cloud doesn't necessarily make the software work any better than on premise... you know, there may be other minor considerations.... like whether the software is a good fit for your company.
