Customer has a kit item that they actually purchase from a vendor who ships it to the end customer. They enter an SO and choose to explode the kit item but you cannot set the parent item to DS. They can manually change the components to drop ship but my question is, can you not have a kit item as a drop ship item so that when you generate a PO from the SO, it is created as a drop ship?? TIA!

Have you tried not exploding the item?
If you're exploding it, why would you need to set the parent as a drop ship?  The parent doesn't impact inventory when exploded.
Are you hoping that if you could set the parent as DS, the components would follow and be auto set to DS?

If you just need the components to appear on the PO, you could modify the form code.  Add the IM_SalesKitDetail table and link ItemCode to SalesKitNo with left join, then add the components to the form.  This will only work if you don't have any other left joins.
