Don't want to get into politics (LOL) but just read that not ONE SINGLE APPLICATION was run through the Obamacare website from start to finish before go live. Imagine new installation ERP projects where 0 full cycle transactions are tested. How does this incompetence exist and why isn't anybody in charge fired???

Since private insurance replaces doctors saying ""just hand me your wallet"" with insurance companies saying ""just hand me your wallet"", how about the biggest buying group we can muster changing the equation from ""we're going to charge whatever we want - you figure out how to pay for it"" to ""this is how much we're going to pay - you figure out how to make a profit"". Medicare for all wouldn't have required a new web site at all.

If that were the case, @PhilMcIntosh then we'd all be paying $10/gallon for gas, $20 for a bunch of bananas, because they would charge what they want and in your world, there would be no such thing as supply & demand and price competition. Do you think Apple would now be giving away OSX or improving their ipads and instead just charge $1,000 for one since doctors can just say 'hand me your wallet.' If that truly were the case, I'd just hire a few doctors, double the price every other doctor charges, and be rich. In the obamacare model you'll have 'this is how much we're going to pay' and the doctor will say 'this crap ain't worth it, I'm out of the insurance pool' and you get to wait on line 6 months for an appointment for the few remaining 'i'm in medicine to save the world' doctors left. I'm sure if they came out with ""ERPCare"" and they said, we are only going to pay $5,000 to put in 50 user ERP systems, you'll just have to figure out how to do that well, with quality and make a profit. How come the Obama administration didn't say to CGS (a foreign company no less, coming from the guy who rails against American companies use of outsourcing) We'll pay you $5m to build the Obamacare website (most pros say its a 1m to 3m project). And instead they got an estimate of 93m, paid it blindly (because the head of CGS is friends with Michelle Obama) and then the bill comes in at $693,000,000.00 and we pay the bill, and the site is completely broken and not one single cycle test was run before go live.

The number of quality doctors who don't take Medicare (and even more who won't take Medicaid) is humongous. I guess if you god forbid had cancer, you 'd go to the Medicaid clinic happily to get cured.

    Oh, and the website was a no-bid contract...Thanks to Michelle's friend: http://www.ijreview.com/2013/10/90065-michelle-obamas-princeton-classmate-top-exec-co-got-bid-contract-obamacare-site/

rebuttals in no particular order: ""Giving away"" an OS that can only be used with Apple hardware? They couldn't sell upgrade cause their cheap Chinese crap doesn't last long enough. http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/australian-cancer-patients-have-highest-survival-rate-in-world/story-fneuzlbd-1226593471571 Halliburton It's OK for a corporation to have a monopoly but not ""the people""? If everyone had Medicare the doctors wouldn't have the choice to not accept Medicare patients anymore. And by the way if you actually understood what I wrote instead of making a Pavlovian response to certain words you would see that I am not proposing doing away with supply and demand, just changing the balance of power.

Where is supply and demand where you state ""this is what you will get paid or you get nothing""? Sound like socialism to me. Solyndra What corporation has a Monopoly? So show me a computer that isn't made in Asia that's build better than Apple? Great, I vote for giving us the Australian healthcare system when they and all these other 'idealic' countries with national healthcare foot their 'fair share' of worldwide peacekeeping.

Well who has been fired for the POS website that Sage uses?????? Probably developed by the same folks....... Technology may be the solution to a lot of woo's but getting it right does take a lot of effort and time.

Putting politics aside, read this: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/dice-considered-delaying-battlefield-4-on-xbox-one-ps4/1100-6415651/ This is how a professional organization releases something. I'd be a monkey's uncle if developing this game which I know well, wasn't a massively bigger project than the Obamacare website and associated interconnects.

Best estimates are the entire game cost about $60million to create. Less than 1/10th of what has been spent on the healthcare.gov solution

I remember when SAP released a horrible version of B1 in 2005. In nearly bankrupted many var's. The #2 on the board who allowed it to be released and who many thought would be the next CEO, Shai Aggasi, was fired, and that folks is what happens in the real world when horrific judgement is used in business

Reminds me of MAS 90 version 4.1. Lots of write offs, if I recall, but no compensation from Sage.

    Wasn't 4.0 the problem?

No, 4.1 was indeed the scary one.

It was rather embarrassing as a beta tester. We worked very hard on this one and it turned into a horrible mess....
