  • 1.  Don't install Starship 19.4. Please report problems. Install 19.3 instead

    StarShip sent out a controlled release of their version 19.4, perhaps 3 weeks ago, so customers can get 2020 UPS and FedEx rates. 

    Intermittently, the StarShip will not bring back rate information and then will stop every shipper from shipping  The quick fix is to go into Server Manager, go to tools-->disconnect all users, then stop and start the server manager.

    StarShip says that of the 40 users using this version, only 5 have reported the issue, but considering that we have 3 of those 5, I'd bet the actual number is larger.   If your customer has an issue, StarShip will add them to the list and turn on the logging feature to help track down the issue, so please report it.  Our programmer and I have been working with Abel.

    StarShip's version 19.3 also contains the new rates, but without the problems, according to Abel.  So, install that instead.

    We put our clients on the 19.3 version, but they still experienced a problem and had to have V-Technology give us a "fix".  When asked if we should move to v19.4; they said... no.  (too many issues).  ​(Instructions and zip file of fixes, attached).

    Yesterday Abel told me that V2019.3 was stable!  I'm glad to know about this.  StarShip usually has top notch code and support, so this is so unusual for them.

    Stay away from 19.4! It will also possibly break e-notify and possibly some reporting functions in the dashboard. We experienced issues with reporting features in the dashboard with the updated 19.3, which is why we went to 19.4.  It does not affect shipping but if somebody is looking for metrics there may be glitches in either version. These were Windows 10 (release didn't matter) machines running Sage 2018cloud. 20.0 is on the way!
