doing an upgrade from 4.3 to 4.5, W2003 Enterprise SP2, installed MAS90, won't let me install PU2. Tried launching MAS and getting No Valid Activation Found. Executed $actpvx.bat, executed pvxcom.exe from common components, nothing works. Tried reinstalling, same thing. installing now to my local to copy activate.pvx over to see if that helps. Any ideas?

If you are installing to a new folder location, it might be folder security. Just a thought.

+1 James - user rights to the home\lib\keys can cause this as well as needing to move the activation info on a Citrix/TS install.

Are you running with elevated rights. Ie. right click and run as administrator?

It's a new folder beneath the share and all groups have full control. I did find the RegInfo.ini didn't have any data in it, so copied mine from my local install. still no go.

I did have to download Magic ISO and using on a 'try it' basis. Can this cause a problem? I did rerun workstation setup with 'right click, run as admin' and no go.

Can you copy a text file into home/lib/keys ? Right click in that folder - try to create and save a text file

going to download a zip copy of 4.5 and unzip rather than trying the trial version of Magic ISO to see if that helps. Terrible way to start a Saturday!

I fought with magic Iso last week. Tough to remove it. And it didn't work for me because of size of iso file. Ended up with winrar. But that is for another thread When you installed the original MAS did you ""run as administrator"".

Sage told me on Thursday to use old customer #, i did just try the new customer number and it told me 1 or more fields was invalid. Tried the old again, and it moved to next screen. I think I'm hosed till Monday.

Try these Sage demo keys - they cannot be used for production but you may be able to rule in/out a keys issue: Product: 3KEUB-Q64FT-FE627-V2BYN-XWESB User: 5AA7301DD6E50C9801A5 Serial: 1500576 Customer: 1311367840

Thanks Wayne, I was able to launch MAS using these keys. The perils of doing an upgrade on the weekend. With the increase in prices/renewals, maybe we should request support on weekends for resellers only!! ha! Thanks for everyone suggestions.

I think we need to charge Sage back for testing keys. It would have to be hourly billing though because Sage doesn't value anything we do.

I am performing a mas 200 4.3 to 4.5 this weekend but I've had a test upgrade and conversion in place for a few weeks since the system is highly customized. I remember running into a lot of issues with user and mas share permissions. Make sure you are installing as an administrator. Also disable UAC and firewall and possibly antivirus during install. Make sure users have full access rights or refresh the mas share to insure your new 4.5 directory is included. You can do a test to ensure you and users have correct permissions by creating a text file within the mas home directory and then deleting it. Hope this helps.

Be sure permissions are set correctly on the server to the MAS90 path.

This turned out to be a bad set of keys, however to add fuel to the fire, Sage generated new keys (with the new account number) on that Monday and I went to install and not all the modules the client owns came up as being 'checked', specifically Custom Office and CRM. Checking the boxes gave me the 45 day trial popup, but CM won't let you have the 45 day trial and client was using CM. Called Sage and this is a known issue in that not all the modules owned are being captured when they generate keys and while they have submitted a ticket (To who? Sage? Are they dinged for a support call too?) there is nothing they can do. The tech regenerated keys and CM came back but no CRM. I can survive without the CRM for now, but dear God!

So what is the procedure for testing keys 100%? I have a customer with CRM and JobOps who just bought two more users. The JobOps keys depend on the MAS keys, so I need to make sure the new MAS keys work before I can get the JobOps keys... Has anyone tried invoicing Sage for time wasted on bad keys yet?

Bet you all can't wait till they go with expiring subscription keys. It will be us, the unpaid complaint department getting the 911 call that nobody can add any data because keys stopped working.
