We have now clocked this twice: 2 hours to generate 200 emailed statements through Paperless Office on Sage 100 v2020.

It takes only 5 minutes to Preview all 200. Since calculating the Aging is part of the Statement generation, this proves that Aging is not part of the problem.

It takes only 15 minutes to print them to PDF.

I think the only process in the way is Crystal Reports Export function which is used when generating a report to attach to email.

Is this analysis correct? Does everybody put up with crappy performance like this or we missing something?

    TIA!

I've had a customer with this issue as well. I usually "blame" it on the email service somehow limiting the rate at which an email may be sent ( per hour ) though I don't know exactly why this is happening. I suspect - but don't know for certain - that my customer has just accepted this slow speed and now takes a coffee break when they email their statements.

I've also struggled with the same customer with intermittent paperless issues ( ie lockfile, etc )

I'll try to confirm that their ISP isn't somehow gating the rate. Could be. Seems like something a service would try to do to avoid being tagged as spam.

Attached is an old document I have that may or may not help.  I know I have had the clients IT department expand the size of outgoing e-mail allowed.

IMO, this is an important issue. I could see more than one company moving off Sage solely due to slowness of emailing statements/invoices, etc at period end. The typical Sage customer is no longer the 2 to 3 user GLAP. To retain the remaining users this type of issue should be addressed.

Thanks, Michele. It should be useful.

Wayne, that was *my* first thought when brought to our attention. And yet, I don't see much about the issue anywhere, which makes little sense to me. So I concluded it's something unusual about our setup. Unlike many, our customer's IT is a completely separate firm, and we are first-line anything Sage-related, which this is. So we rule out a Sage cause and then toss it to them. Hence, not many encounter this, so not lots of public angst.

BUT it should warrant some mention on Sage KB -- and I could find none.
