Does using Payroll eFiling and Reporting change the year end steps for a SAGE 100 client? Client has always printed their W-2s in mid January. The steps they normally follow are. In December: 1) Install IRD updates 2) Reconcile Y-T-D Payroll totals right after the last payroll for 2012. 3) Create a backup company for 2012 Payroll in SAGE 100 - call it company code ""P12"" 4) Perform year end procedure in Payroll to clear employee files for 2013. 5) Install Tax Table Updates (TTU) In January: 1) Process the first two or three weekly payrolls for 2013 2) When they are ready to print W-2s, they temporarily change the FICA maximum back to 2012 level in Tax Table Maintenance 3) Switch to company ""P12"" and print (this year eFile) their W-2s for 2012 4) Change the FICA maximum to 2013 level in Tax Table Maintenance 5) Continue to process payrolls in 2013. Did I miss any steps? Are the steps different using eFiling and Reporting?

I've used a similar procedure, except that instead of modifying tax tables, I reload Q4 2012 tax tables for W2 printing, then re-install Q1 2013 upon completion. Alternately, I create a second MAS 90 instance from which client prints W2's (leaving that system in Q4 with appropriate tax tables in place).

I wonder if the tax tables are a moot point with eFiling, which uses completely different payroll files (not PR3). I would think so - I would think all of that stuff would be handled outside of Sage. I have a couple of clients who used eFiling to print their W2s last year, but I don't think either of them had anyone hit the max.

Similar to Michael and I have not done enough eFile to know about whether you still need to swap rates

Similar thread here. https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/14585164?ref=stream Aatrix creates a work table similar to a spreadsheet grid that is used to edit the fields. Since the 2013 tax tables have been released, you should be able to load them, then test to see the result. Of course, you need some employees that have maxed out the limits.

Mind if we throw this on 90Minds blog as is?

Another issue that I am running into with Aatrix reporting is with 3rd party disability payments. The procedure that has worked for years with PR (modify the tax amounts via fix) no longer works with Aatrix. Client has to correct these amounts via the Aatrix spreadsheet template that is part of the process. Does anyone have a better workaround in MAS that works with Aatrix.

That is why I like the Aatrix spreadsheet so much - the ability to correct mispostings during the year. I have told my clients that require health insurance reporting (250 + W-2s) not to worry about trying to track in MAS - we will just enter it in the spreadsheet at year end. It does not affect tax or GL.

I wonder if there is a way to upload the information.....

Just FYI for Aatrix e-filing. Printing of W2's for local entities is not supported for companies using. PR-1090 (multiple local taxes)

Have a 4.30.0.23 client who's using Aatrix (i.e., eFiling). Some forms have this watermark: ""Record Copy, Do Not File."" It appears, although we'd like confirmation, that it's okay with the watermark being on the WH3 Indiana, Fed and KY forms because those get electronically filed, but the W2 ""company"" copies (Copy 1 for City, State, Local) also have the watermark, and the client is under the impression they do need to file those ""non""-electronically since it's their understanding that Aatrix doesn't give the option to file City, State, Local electronically. The ""company"" copy D does not have the watermark so they could make copies of that to use for filing non-electronically if they have to, but we'd like to know if this is all working correctly. The W2 employee copies have no watermark so those are okay. Looking for any feedback. Thanks.

I have always taken the stance that it's better to file - even if the form may not be 100% - than get socked with a penalty for failing to file.

Duh/Doy (whichever you prefer), it sounds like we just didn't proceed to the next step. Apparently that ""Record Copy, Do not file"" message prints during the ""Print Your Copy"" step when eFiling forms. Just needed to proceed to the next step to print the Certified Copy. Again, duh/doy.

The other possible cause for this issue was that the client apparently ignored the prompt to run the Automatic Update - because they thought that the IRD we installed contained the updated forms. So therefore the system considered the existing forms as outdated, and printed the watermark. Once they proceeded we were able to reprint the forms without a watermark. Also, it actually gives you the option to print with and without a watermark. If you accept the default, it prints a watermark. You have to choose Original to get a file-able W-2 copy.

Not sure if I am a super fan of Aatrix or not. But then again, maybe I like Aatrix because it highlights the deficincies of MAS PR and/or the link between it and Aatrix.Third Party sick pay handling sucks, clients are running into issues where a refund of a pre tax deduction is not handled properly are two major issues. I know have to worry about the electronic filing module if you make changes in Aatrix for printing the w-2's, you have to be careful that the changes are reflected in the MAS electronic filing upload file. Grrrrr....

Another apparent gotcha in preparing Aatrix forms is that you have to remember to fill in the dependent care fields in MAS BEFORE you create the Aatrix table. Client overlooked this step, created the Aatrix tables, modified the Aatrix tables, discovered that dependent care was missing, then discovered that she couldn't add the dependent care column to the grid... Does anyone know if there really is a way to add the column? We didn't call tech support asit was faster to start over.....

Anyone know how to access the statef w-2 form in Aatrix if you have completed the process but forgot to generate the state forms? It appears that you have to start over........ Which I am reluctant to do because of modifcations. I would hope there is an option to return to the last saved RAW data table to start over at that point...

An update to the above note on reprinting the state forms - Even when I DID print the state forms, the Aatrix system does NOT reflect that they have been printed. is this a bug?

The latest nightmare - Client is trying to use Aatrix to e-mail employee w-2's directly. NOT happening!!!!!! Is there a contact at Sage to escalate this to???? From the client - Fidell looked at it and looked at it and it is there system and they said they offer no support so won't even tell me anything. This is such a frickin nightmare so now I am having to print out each person's info and e-mail one by one only have to do 135 of them. You would think Sage and Aatrix would be able to handle real businesses and not just business that don't have e-mail servers. What the hell we can e-mail our dd stubs fine within MAS 90 and then Sage supports a product that can't do the same!!

OK, Let see where this post goes on LinkedIn. I had to call out Sage/Aatrix on behalf of my client's shitty experience these past two weeks..... http://www.linkedin.com/groupItem?view=&gid=106271&type=member&item=205725693 Let this be a warning to all who attempt to use Aatrix! There are some great features in this product as long as you eat plain vanilla ice cream. Deviate and the warts will begin to show.....
