Does the standard Paperless office properly support faxing? If it does, which solution is recommended for faxing?

Mark, Wayne started a similar thread yesterday under * MAS90 Routine. It may be of interest to you.

I recommend using one of the online fax services (where you actually email the fax using the fax number as the email address, then it's turned into a fax by the service) because I have had too many issues with local vs long distance calls.

I definitely agree with you @BethBowers , I just wasn't sure how well they worked. So are you saying efax works fine with paperless office?

When you send it as an email to efax, yes.

The email address is like 9284386061@efax.com and you set them up as if they had a normal email address. The PDF is emailed to Efax and they turn it into a fax and send it to 9284386061.

There used to be the native ability to use eFax (and a few other) web based fax services. The solution would automatically convert fax number into an email address that is require to fax via eFax. For some odd reason Sage took this functionality out when they went to 4.3 inclusion of paperless. I think they just plain assumed everyone would use MSFT or that (remember this was before Sage decimated all ES titles) Sage would turn the Efax add-on into a pay for play add-on like Direct Deposit. Ultimately as I think you've seen DSD offers the enhancement. Thought it may not be needed if you can convince the client to put in their eFax email as primary email address.

I have a couple of accounts using the Windows Fax Server as specified in Paperless Office. Both added a modem to the server with a phone line connected. Seems old school but it works. Although, I like the efax concept mentioned above.

The modem method works well for my clients. I experimented with Efax today and was able to use it just fine. If you need to fax AND e-mail the document, simply enter the efax # and e-mail address into the e-mail field (separate them with semicolon). Both can be defined as default e-mail address in Customer Maintenance. If you want to disable fax cover page (to save on fees), enter {nocoverpage} into body of e-mail (in Paperless form setup).
