Does Sage 100 Standard require a drive letter any longer? I know it was required/recommended in the past. If UAC is not fully disabled I have seen workstation shortcuts using UNC (etc - \\server\share\version2017\mas90). We had someone setup multiple workstations drilling down through Network instead of drive letter. Do I need to reinstall of these with the drive letter?

I have seen that sometimes and probably have done it, and haven't had any issues.

Page 12 of the current Installation and System Administrator Guide says... ""Each workstation must recognize the network drive on which Sage 100 Standard is loaded using a mapped drive letter. Using Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths is not supported."" So, now the question is why...

Hmph. They actually used to force you to do it, but then that stopped. I haven't had issues with Paperless or Direct Deposit or ACH, the things you would THINK you would have trouble with.

There was a post pertaining to mapped drives several months ago. @AlnoorCassim posted that when Sage began supporting MS Vista (V4.3?), the mapped drive was no longer a requirement. However, if the network DNS is not configured properly the users may experience slow performance in Sage 100. For that reason, I map a drive, turn off UAC during the WS install, and then check the path in the Sage shortcut and verify a the path has a mapped drive. Good to eliminate one variable if there is slowness.

Yes everything Doug said. The SA Guide info is outdated.

This is back to the client that all users in Sage 100 Standard after upgrading from 2014 to 2017 freeze up about twice a day. No pattern other than twice a day (as of yet).

@AlnoorCassim / @DougHiggs - Could a DNS issue be causing slowness in v2017 ADV? User upgraded to v2017 ADV from v2015 STD and they report that Sage response is slowwwwwwwww. Just scratching for clues.

@JeffSchwenk - you can test the DNS issue by changing the workstation setup to use the IP address of the server instead of the name.

So just edit the sota.cfg file on the workstation? Or is it better to reinstall the workstation setup?
