I have a customer going live on AvaTax tomorrow morning.  Inventory items are assigned tax code TX, NT, or T2 (taxable service).  Should I care what Sage 100 tax code is assigned to each item?  The service items have an Avalara tax code assigned to them.  Does Avalara use Sage 100 inventory item tax codes?

When Avatax is assigned to the customer in customer maintenance, then Avatax supersedes other tax codes.  HOWEVER, if an inventory item is not marked as taxable, then tax is not calculated on that item code.  If a non-taxable item is changed to taxable on the line items of an order then tax is calculated.  Please note, this is the way it is supposed to work, however sometimes there are issues.

Thank you @Michele Herzog   I was having issues when I was testing because some service items had T2 (non taxable service) as the Tax Class.  So, this morning I created a VI job to change the Tax Class on all item codes to TX.  If the item has a TX tax class then Avalara should decide if the line is taxable or non-taxable.
