Does anyone sell or know anything about Traverse by Open Systems? How well does Sage 100 position against it?

Traverse is a direct competitor. Many moons ago I used to work for a company that was did Open Systems and MAS consulting. Open Systems has its roots from the BBX Business Basic Extended programming language, as does Sage 100. Traverse is a good product and I know of at least one decent size consulting/accounting firm locally that resells it.

It's similar in basic functionality to Sage 100. I have never competed with it in any deals and have heard very little about it for many years. I'm surprised it's still around. Although it now runs under MS SQL, for many years it used MS Access which was appealing to those who wanted to customize around it. When customers consider the players in the mid market, they normally think of Sage, Microsoft and SAP, not Open Systems.

Also, Open Systems used to be open source code... hence the name... not sure if Traverse still is.... Great for companies that want a solid accounting package and know they need a lot of source code customization.... and have internal programming expertise or don;t mind paying the consultant.

My firm many many years ago supported SAGE 100, Open Systems (BBX based) and Traverse (Access based). My former star employee still works with OSAS and Traverse. If you need details I could ask for information.
